The Death of the Donnellys tells the story of a mythic feud that took place in Canada in the nineteenth century. Over the course of several years, the whole town of Lucan gradually turned against the Donnelly family, most of whom in the end died in a cold-blooded massacre.

The play itself recreates the period and the events, employing a very physical and imaginative style of acting that moves from broad comedy to the dramatic tension of the final bloodbath. Along the way we see fights and a wedding, a chivaree (celebration for newly-weds) and a stagecoach race, love scenes and comic encounters, mock deaths and real deaths. All this to the accompaniment of songs, step-dancing and live fiddle music.
