SPRING SEMESTER 2002
SCHEDULING INFORMATION

Spring Semester Course Selection will take place on the
University Information System
beginning on
January 28, 2002
at midnight.

Enrolment System

Students select courses for the upcoming semester using the University's Information System. Each student is responsible for selecting his/her own courses and ensuring that he/she has a timetable that meets both the requirements of the English Department and his/her own personal needs. For your own benefit when scheduling, you need to keep the following things in mind:

1. Meet Department and Faculty requirements as set out in "Studijní katalog 2001-2002".

2. Select courses that do not conflict in terms of time. To this end, the department schedule has been posted on the bulletin board and on the department web page. In addition it is possible to purchase a copy of the department timetable for either the 1st or 2nd cycles.

3. You should plan in advance and come to the computer with a draft schedule already prepared

4. Make sure that you register for any compulsory exams which you will take in this coming semester:
¨ 1st year: Qualifying Exam (AJ09999)
¨ 2nd year: Practical English Exam (AJ11010)
¨ 3rd/4th years: Comprehensive Exam (if appropriate) (AJ1999)
¨ 4th/5th years: Both the Minor Thesis/Major Thesis and the State Exam (AJ29700/AJ29800 and AJ2999)

5. Do not register for courses for which you do not have the prerequisites, you will not be enrolled.

6. For those courses that are offered in multiple sections, sections are listed separately. You may register for one section only. Again, do not schedule sections of two courses that are at the same time.

7. Students in the 2nd cycle who need or want to take a course from the 1st cycle should see the course's teacher for instructions and permission. It is not possible for 1st cycle students to take 2nd cycle courses.

8. Even if a course has reached its limit in terms of the number of students (e.g. 15), you may still register for the course and then ask the teacher to approve your enrolment. Of course, the teacher may still decline to admit you to the course.

9. During the registration period, please limit your use of the computers in the department SAC to 30 minutes in order to allow your colleagues access. You may also enrol from any location (in the world) with access to the internet. So don't despair if the computers here are all full up.

Department Schedule

The schedule for all courses in either the First or Second Cycles may be purchased in the Departmental Library/SAC for 5 crowns.
