Paradox of Fiction

Cain Todd

This lecture concerns the problem known as the 'Paradox of Fiction' - namely, how can we have emotional responses to characters, events, and situations that do not exist? The lecture will be primarily concerned with examining various possible solutions to the problem. In the process, I shall touch on issues surrounding the nature of emotion and belief and consider finally whether there really is a paradox after all.
