Masaryk University Language Preparation

Intended for foreign students in Master and Doctoral programmes at Masaryk University (for study programme in Czech language).

Academic year 2017/18

Autumn semester 2017/18 (September – December 2017, 13 academic weeks): 8 academic hours/week

Spring semester 2017/18 (February – May 2018, 13 academic weeks): 8 academic hours/week

During both semesters student passes partial exams and the whole Language Preaparation is finished by written and oral exams at the end of the second semester of study.

Study programme

At the beginning of the first semester student writes the entrance test based on which his/her initial knowledge of the Czech language is determined.

Students of all levels (i.e. Beginners I - II, Pre-intermediate I - III, Intermediate I - III, Advanced I - V, Very advanced I - V) will be placed in the existing courses of the Department of Czech for Foreigners.

Completion of particular semesters

At the end of the second semester the student is supposed to pass the final exams of the individual parts of the courses (see Abstract of courses).

Student's knowledge is classified according to the grading scheme adhering the ECTS principles (A, B, C, D, E, F) and his/her course attendance + exam is evaluated with ECTS credits (suggested number of credits: 6 + 2, i.e. 8).

If the student does not succeed in the regular or two resit terms, the credits will not be gained.
