Distant Adoption
Our Department is engaged in The Distant Adoption Project – we send 4600,- CZK a year to support Ekkele Meenakshi, an Indian girl, a pupil of the Santhp Basic School. Ekkele lives in Bidar region, north of Karnataka that is one of the poorest areas in India. Illiteracy exceeds 50 % and concerns girls especially. Ekkele, who has six more siblings, couldn’t study without our help, because monthly income of her family is less then 550 CZK.
Ekkele studies at Maria Kripa Social Centre, she was chosen by local staff there. The only criteria for being chosen is a necessity of a family and child’s motivation – age, gender and religion are not relevant. Educational centres conduct account procedures, are subjected to government auditing, ADCH Prague controls accounts.
Thanks to our money, Ekkele gets school things, a uniform, health care, a Christmas present and higher education savings – that will be very useful for Ekkele because she wants to become a teacher. She is doing very well at school, she is a very intelligent and reliable girl. She is at a boarding school and when she is at home, she helps with carrying water. She fancies about dancing, she likes to eat fruits.
