Degree Studies in Czech - Admission Requirements & Deadlines


Master’s studies (Mgr., equivalent to a Master's degree, typically two years):

Studies are free of charge for those international students who are admitted under the same conditions as Czech students. The language of tuition is Czech.

Applicants from outside the European Union do not pay application fees.

Applications are accepted from February until the end of April for the following Autumn Semester and from September until the end of November for the following Spring Semester.


APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30 April for the following academic year.




The application must include: 

  • a letter of motivation written in Czech by the candidate himself/herself (except for students applying for selected non-Czech philological studies, in which case a motivation letter in the relevant language may be sufficient);
  • in some subjects, it may be required to present a copy of the Bachelor's thesis (or its equivalent) submitted by the candidate in completion of their Bachelor's degree requirements or a major essay/paper submitted during the last year of study if the former is not a requirement at the relevant university;
  • a CV written in Czech stating the academic achievements of the candidate.

In some fields of study, the entrance examination may be held in absentia if the quality of the submitted materials is judged to be outstanding.

It is therefore recommended that potential applicants contact the Admissions Office of the Faculty at admission@phil(dot)muni(dot)cz well in advance of the application deadline for more detailed information concerning the admissions requirements and information on the entrance examination for the subject they wish to study.

At enrolment, proof of official recognition of the applicant's Bachelor's degree by the relevant Czech authorities must be presented (for detailed information please see http://www.muni.cz/study/recognition?lang=en).
