It is the only journal in the field of English and American studies in the Czech Republic included in this list.
The preferred fields of articles for publication include (but are not limited to) the following:

Referencing and citing articles from BSE:
Journal name and series information
The journal was founded in 1959 under the title of Brno Studies in English (abbreviated as BSE).
- Since 1979, it has been published under the parallel Czech title of Sborník prací Filozofické fakulty Brněnské university (abbreviated as SPFFBU; the Latin name Studia minora Facultatis philosophicae Universitatis masarykianae is also used by the publisher, i.e. the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University). Hence the occasional citations equating the two titles, such as SPFFBU S 8 = BSE 28, 2002, etc.
- From 1979 until 1994, the journal was published within the “K” series of SPFFBU (“germanisticko-anglistická řada/series germanica et anglica”; e.g. the 1979 volume was identified as SPFFBU K 1 = Brno Studies in English 13).
- Since 1995, the journal has been published separately within the “S” series of SBFFBU (“anglistická řada/series anglica”; e.g. the 1995 volume was identified as SPFFBU S 1 = Brno Studies in English 21).
Although the university continues to publish the journal under both names and within the “S” series (distinguishing among the journals published by the individual departments at the Faculty of Arts), the journal is officially and correctly to be cited as Brno Studies in English, followed by the appropriate volume number.
