General information

The goals of E-learning Stipend Programme are:

  • To support students’ engagement in creation, modification and administration of e-learning courses in both ELF and IS MU systems.
  • To improve the quality and effectiveness of existing e-learning courses.

  • To promote the use of e-learning and modern technologies in education.

  • To inform about the possibilities of the e-learning use at FA MU.

Students who fulfill the requirements of the Programme will be paid from the Faculty of Arts Stipend fund. The number of supported courses will depend on current budget of the fund.

We offer two types of support:

Who to contact

Depending on the system, please contact:

  • ELF – Petra Hanušková (phone 549 49 1592, e-mail: elf@phil.muni.cz)

  • IS MU – E-tech support Petra Baštářová (phone 549 49 6495, e-mail: etech@fi.muni.cz)

Stipend Programme administration (including decisions about the stipend size) is performed by the E-learning Office (e-learning.phil.muni.cz). The stipend is authorized by PhDr. Petr Škyřík, Ph.D., vice-dean for admissions and program development (phone 549 49 1552, e-mail: prodekan.prijimaci@phil.muni.cz).

Type A: Creation and modification of an e-learning course

The teacher supplies the student with materials or instructions on how to create the materials. The student creates or modifies the e-learning course in accordance with the teacher’s instructions. The size of the stipend is calculated by the E-learning Office staff based on the final evaluation of the e-learning course.

Process

  1. The teacher looks for a student (or students) who will assist them with the e-learning course.
    1. Note: If the teacher cannot find a suitable student, they can ask the E-learning Office staff to nominate one.
  2. Registering for the stipend programme

    1. The registration opens at the beginning of semester (normally within the first 30 days).

    2. Both the teacher and the student (or the teacher alone if they don’t have a student assistant yet) come for an introductory consultation (see contacts for ELF and IS MU above). Attendance is compulsory; materials sent via e-mail only cannot be accepted.

    3. Prior to the consultation, the teacher fills out a short online form where they provide information about the course the contents and administrative details. A consultant from the E-learning Office will send a link to the form to the teacher once they register for the programme, i.e. sends an e-mail to elf@phil.muni.cz stating they want to register for the programme. The teacher further specifies their intentions and goals for the course and describes what the student’s tasks will be. The consultant, who is also present during the meeting, will guide the teacher and the student assistent through the E-learning Stipend Programme and will suggest the ways of fulfilling the teacher’s expectations about the course.

  3. Support for course creators

    1. An e-learning course creation workshop will be run by the E-learning Office staff.

  4. Student’s responsibilities

    1. A timesheet will be created for the student in GoogleSheets (a Google App accessible through the IS MU). The student will keep their timesheet updated.

The consultant will provide the assistant with instructions on how to access and fill out the timesheet.

    2. The student arranges for a mid-term consultation with their consultant. One mid-term consultation is compulsory. The assistant will inform the consultant as to their progress with the course creation / management and present the plans for further course development / completion.

  5. Final evaluation

    1. The student arranges for a final presentation of their course (see the current schedule for details). Student presents their course and discusses possible improvements with the consultant. Teacher’s presence is optional.

Note: Final presentations are open to the public; any student or teacher who is interested in e-learning course creation are welcome to come. Dates of the presentations will be published on the Stipend Programme website (elf.phil.muni.cz/stipends). The presentations will take place in the E-learning Office in the G building (Gorkého 7, ground floor).

    2. The stipend can be allocated to the student once they fill out the online feedback form.

The consultant will send the student a link to the form after the final presentation.

  6. Remuneration

    1. Once the student meets all the requirements, they qualify for a stipend of up to 15 000 CZK (for one course). The size of the stipend is calculated based on the final presentation of the e-learning course and depends upon the course evaluation by the E-learning Office staff. At least two consultants from the E-learning Office are present at final presentations.

Type B: E-learning course administration

Student ensures that the course is running smoothly based on the teacher’s instructions. Most of the work falls into one of the following categories: downloading and grading homeworks, scanning, responding in forums, creating quiz questions, scanning, copying and uploading materials into course. The size of the stipend is based on the amount of hours spent on the course maintenance and type of work (hourly rate for the listed activities ranges from 80 to 120 CZK/hour).
