The two buildings are within 150 metres from each other.
To get to the buildings of Faculty of Arts:
From the railway station: tram No. 12 or 13 – tram stop Grohova – one stop from Česká.
(Walk down the street in the opposite direction of the tram, turn right at the first crossroad and then left to get to the building at Arna Nováka 1. To get to the building at Gorkého 7, turn right at the second crossroad as you walk down from the tram stop.)
From the bus station: walk through or along the Vaňkovka shopping centre to get to the railway station, then take tram No. 12 or 13 (see above).
The faculty buildings are within walking distance of the city centre (10-15 minutes).
Getting to Brno
- By Air to Brno
Brno airport operates a limited number of international flights (e.g. Ryanair from/to London - Stansted).
- By Air to Vienna
There are direct bus connections from the airport in Vienna to Brno city-centre (departing Vienna airport at 8.05, 11.05, 18.05, 20.30 - travel time 2h 45min. Price: 16€ one way – see www.studentagency.eu).
- By Air to Bratislava
A good alternative is also to fly to Bratislava. Brno is only one and a half hour away by bus/train with relatively frequent connections.
- By Air to Prague
Most cheap airlines fly to Prague. Czech airlines operate cheap flights for fixed end-prices (CZK 1390/55 €) to /from most European capitals (www.click4sky.cz).
There are direct buses from Prague airport to Brno city-centre every hour (from 6.35 until 19.35; travel time 4 hours. Price: 250 CZK (app. 10€), see www.studentagency.eu).
- By Train / Bus
Brno is on the direct train line Hamburg-Vienna. It is also connected, via Břeclav, to the main line Vienna-Warsaw. For up-to-date connections (also international), see www.jizdnirady.cz.
- Brno is well-connected to most European countries by very comfortable bus connections. The prices are quite reasonable (www.studentagency.eu)

Publications
No summary conference proceedings are planned, though selected papers will be published as reviewed thematic collections and in the international journal Brno Studies in English.
- Two volumes are planned for Linguistics (Functional Syntax & Grammar; Discourse Analysis & Interaction); please send your manuscripts to Jan Chovanec (chovanec@phil.muni.cz), CC: Renata Kamenická (kamenick@phil.muni.cz). The deadline for papers is 30 April 2010. Potential contributors will be notified of the acceptance of their papers by 30 June 2010.
