O akci
Being a mentor teacher is incredibly rewarding, but it also adds another layer of responsibility to an already busy teaching schedule. This course is designed for mentor teachers who want to explore practical ways to manage this professional workload whilst supporting both their own wellbeing and that of the student teachers they guide.
Together, we will look at how to strike a healthy balance, set realistic boundaries, and create a supportive environment during teaching placements. We will focus on how to spot the signs of stress or overwhelm, share strategies for maintaining energy levels, and discuss how wellbeing can be naturally woven into the everyday mentoring process. The aim is to make the placement a positive and sustainable experience for both you and your mentee.
The course is highly interactive and based on the everyday realities of school life. It combines brief input from the lecturer with guided discussion, the analysis of typical stress points during placements, pair and small-group work, and hands-on practice in formulating support strategies.
Participants will work with real-life scenarios, exploring how to handle conversations about workload and stress with student teachers. The course also provides a safe, open space for participants to reflect on their own experiences of managing the demands of teaching and mentoring, allowing them to share approaches and practical ideas with fellow professionals.
Lectors: N. C. Fořtová, T. Rankin, L. Nepivodová
