1/3 Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University Measure No. 19/2020 Scholarship programme to support studies in foreign language study programmes In accordance with § 28, Paragraph 1 of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Modification and Amendment of Other Acts (Higher Education Act), as later amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), I issue the following Measure: Section 1 Scholarship programme specification The scholarship programme to support studies in foreign language study programmes (hereinafter referred to as the “scholarship programme”) is announced by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University (hereinafter referred to as the “FF MU”) in accordance with Section 3 para. 1 item b) of the Scholarship Regulations of Masaryk University. Section 2 Purpose of the scholarship programme and its duration (1) The purpose of the scholarship programme is to motivate applicants to study in study programmes in a foreign language and students studying in these study programmes to achieve excellent study results. (2) The scholarship programme is announced for a period starting with the entry into force of this measure for an indefinite period. Section 3 Source of the scholarship programme funding The source of funding for scholarships is the income of workplaces from teaching programmes in a foreign language. Section 4 Conditions for awarding a scholarship (1) The scholarship is intended for full-time and part-time students of bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study programmes in a foreign language carried out at the FF MU. (2) The condition for awarding a scholarship is active study according to paragraph 1 at the time of submitting the application and at the time of issuing the decision to award the scholarship. (3) In the course of the scholarship programme, its individual rounds are announced, usually for each academic year. (4) Individual workplaces providing the tuition of study programmes in a foreign language announce the conditions for obtaining a scholarship for students of each of these study programmes separately. (5) The conditions are announced for individual study programmes in a foreign language no later than 15th February of the previous academic year by publication on the publicly available website of the faculty. 2/3 (6) When determining the conditions, the individual workplaces take into account in particular the needs of the development of individual study programmes in a foreign language. Typically, excellent study results of students in these study programmes or their long-term study stays abroad will be supported. (7) The conditions also include setting a deadline for submitting an application for a scholarship. The deadlines are usually set for 15 October and 15 March in each year. The workplace can decide to accept applications in both terms. (8) The scholarship is non-claimable. (9) A necessary prerequisite for the award of the scholarship is a sufficient amount of funds in the scholarship programme. Section 5 The scholarship amount The amount of the scholarship is always determined as part of the conditions announced by the individual workplace in accordance with Section 4 of this measure. Section 6 Scholarship award and its payment (1) The scholarship is awarded at the request of the student. (2) Students apply for the scholarship support by filling in the “Application for scholarship to support study in foreign language study programmes” form. The application is submitted exclusively electronically via the Information System of MU (IS MU> Office> Submission of a new application> Application for a scholarship to support study in foreign language study programmes), until the deadline of the given round of the scholarship programme. The application form will be published together with the announcement of the individual round of the scholarship programme. (3) The decision to award a scholarship is drawn in electronic form and provided with a digital signature. The decision is delivered to the student through the IS MU Office. (4) The scholarship is paid in Czech crowns. (5) The payment of the scholarship takes place in the form of a single payment to the bank account specified by the student in the IS MU after the decision takes legal effect. Section 7 Assessment of applications Individual applications are always assessed by representatives of the individual workplaces providing tuition of the given study programme in a foreign language. Section 8 Scholarship award The Vice-dean for International Relations decides on the award of the scholarship and its final amount on behalf of the Dean. Section 9 Final Provisions (1) This Measure follows the Scholarship Regulations of Masaryk University. (2) The Vice-dean for International Relations controls, interprets, and updates this Measure. 3/3 (3) The Faculty Bursar verifies the use of financial resources for the purposes of scholarships.
