About the programme

The programme supports applied research into and the development of national and cultural identity for 2016 to 2022 (NAKI II). The duration of projects is usually 3–5 years. NAKI II projects must be completed by 31 December 2022 at the latest. The provider is the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. 

The program's main objective is to help ensure that public funds invested in applied research and development in the field of national and cultural identity bring concrete economic or other social benefits.

The programme has two global objectives, which are further divided into 6 specific goals:

Global objective No. 1 – National Identity

  • Specific objective 1.1 Research and its application – historical sciences and archaeology
  • Specific objective 1.2 Research and its application – language and literature
  • Specific objective 1.3 Research and its application – artistic creation

Global Objective No. 2 – Cultural Heritage

  • Specific objective 2.1 Research and its application – cultural heritage and areas of historical value
  • Specific objective 2.2 Technologies and practices for the protection of cultural heritage
  • Specific objective 2.3 Cultural heritage, education, and media

The following types of projects can be applied for:

  • J – a single applicant project
  • D – a joint project of the applicant and co-applicant(s) (type: beneficiary + other project participant(s))
  • K – a joint project of several applicants (type: all participants as beneficiaries – a “consortium” of beneficiaries)
