GAČR announces LA call for project submissions with Slovenia

The Czech Science Foundation (GAČR), in cooperation with the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), has opened a call for joint Slovenian–Czech project proposals evaluated under the Lead Agency scheme with an anticipated project start date in 2027. ARIS will act as the evaluating agency, while GAČR will adopt the results as the partner organization.

The Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) has announced a new opportunity for researchers interested in submitting joint project proposals with partners from Slovenia. The call is implemented under the Lead Agency evaluation model, in which the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS) carries out the scientific assessment and GAČR recognizes the outcome as the partner agency. This bilateral call forms part of the Weave initiative supporting international cooperation in basic research.

Deadlines and Submission Timeline

The submission period opens on 16 February 2026.
Slovenian applicants must submit their proposals to ARIS by 31 March 2026.
The Czech partner may submit the Czech component of the proposal until 7 April 2026, i.e., within seven days after the official ARIS deadline.

When preparing the proposal in the GAČR electronic system GRIS, applicants must register the project under the call Lead Agency – Partner Organization – 2027 to ensure correct processing on the Czech side.

All rules, instructions, and templates—including declarations for proving applicant eligibility—are available in the Tender Documentation section of the GAČR website.

Project Duration

Projects may run for up to three years, with GAČR allowing durations of 24 or 36 months. The project length must be identical for all participating research teams.
