-
26 November 2025
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM - Knihovna Jiřího Mahena, Kobližná 4, Brno
The lecture by Markéta Jarošová from the Institute of Christian Art History at the KTF FF UK will focus on collecting activities of two remarkable women – Nélie Jacquemart André (1841–1912) of Paris and Isabella Stewart Gardner (1840–1924) of Boston. At the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, both created fascinating collections encompassing a wide range of artworks from different periods, with Italian Renaissance art at their core. Because they left their collections to the public on the condition that the original installation be preserved, these collections constitute an unique record character of displaying art in a private environment, shaped by museological discourse of that time.
