The Horizons of Theatrology: Tomáš Kačer about Realism in America

The lecture will focus on understanding the concept of "realism" as understood by traditionAmerican drama and theater. It will deal with specific American elements of realism and show how it differs from the European understanding. Part of the lecture will be devoted to the discussion of the possibility of realism in drama in the USA and will explain why there was only one (!) Drama of a socially realistic, Ibsen-type type, and what discussion was caused by his production. Finally, let's think about why realism is not like realism and how it relates to reclining seats.
