This project goes back to the history of Czech philosophy at the turn of the l9th and 2Oth century. Its aim is to examine the philosophical, religious, and cultural roots of Karel Vorovka‘s thinking. Being considered one of the greatest and most original Czech thinkers of the 2Oth century, this scientist and philosopher produced an extraordinary work, combining the perspectives of hard sciences, mathematics and physics in particular, philosophy, and religion. So far, however, there has been little attention paid to Vorovka‘s contribution to Czech philosophy. Therefore, this project will seek to trace the primary scientific base of Vorovka‘s philosophy, address its religious context in great detail, and critically evaluate his thinking both from a national and international perspective. Of he main issues addressed in this research follow: Vorovka‘s conception of Immanuel Kant‘s transcendental philosophy; theory of knowledge set between scepsis and gnosis; critical understanding of Tomas Garique Masaryk‘s philosophy; interpretation of modern American philosophy; and Vorovka‘s political views. No research has been found that surveyed significance of this outstanding Czech figure, probably owing to the biased interpretations by Zdenek Nejedly. The purpose of this project is to fill in this gap in Czech historiography and produce a comprehensive monograph on Vorovka‘s life and work.
