Description The object of this paper is to outline the possibilities of non-destructive archaeological research that would be only slightly destructive of the First World War battlefield in the wooded Carpathian mountain forests of Eastern Slovakia. The use of archaeological methods on the WWI battlefield was practically zero in our country, nevertheless unique findings of world-class significance may enrich our knowledge of life in the trenches during the First World War. A diverse group of researchers have flocked to communicate through the Zakopy.cz web site and publication platform to decide upon an example of the WWI battlefield to establish this young discipline also in our environment and, for the coming seasons, they intend to focus on the use of cross-discipline methods for selected locations.
