| Description | The aim of the lecture is to introduce the religious branch of Shugendo which is characterized by a unique combination of Buddhist and Shinto elements documenting thus the manner in which they have coexisted in Japan throughout history. The presentation will illustrate fundamental ideas of both traditional Japanese religious traditions as well as their common elements based upon the example of religious pilgrimage. To summarize, a short video will be offered to demonstrate its contemporary practices. |
