Description Classical theories of development were formed since the beginning of 20th century and often described only development in the first half of life. The chapter deals with some of the most important theories that influenced the further research of human development, with an emphasis on models describing the whole life-span. These thoeries focus on various aspects of development: personality characteristics, social relationships, cognitive or moral dimension. In the end it is mentioned a critical look at these theories and the emergence of solutions for further development of the theoretical approach to life-span development.
