Description This paper, firstly, looks at the textual evidence of the popularity of a Boccaccian novella in early modern theatre – namely England, Germany and the Czech lands; not looking at whole plays but rather playlets, or particles; and, secondly, to reflect on the nature of their relationship or possible influence, and propose a possible historiographic approach that might be appropriate in handling the levels of uncertainty encountered.
