Description Teachers and professionals from all over Italy will discuss a wide range of topics, including: the acquisition and learning of Italian L2 (with particular reference to low-literate children and adults), training for volunteers involved in language support and literacy of adult migrants, teaching tools for unaccompanied minors, segregation in host contexts and language acquisition of refugees and asylum seekers, the role of mother tongues and L2 acquisition, tools for testing literacy levels, literacy of young migrants, school policies for low-literate adult migrants, European policies for low-literate migrant children and adults, human rights and their protection, professional development and teacher training, language and literacy as tools for resilience. The study day is organised with the collaboration of the Doctorate in "Literary, philological-linguistic and historical-cultural studies" of the Department of Humanities", CPIA Palermo 1 and CPIA Palermo2. It has also received the patronage of the National Observatory for the Integration of Foreign Pupils and Interculture, the Regional School Office of Palermo, UNICEF, UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees).
