Description The study deals with the grant of arms of Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg that the monarch issued in Prague on 27 July 1420 for Peter and Paul ‘de Eberswein’ (in Czech Ebrzvín or Ebrzvín z Hradiště). The document was sealed and issued to the recipients, but there was no coat of arms painted in the available space in the middle of the text. The document remained in this state until the middle of the 16th century. At that time, a coat of arms was painted on the document that was not the same as that intended in 1420. The study attempts to clarify the circumstances of the issuing of the original document and to uncover why the document remained incomplete for so long and who was behind its completion or, more accurately, its falsification in the16th century.
