| Description | A hosted discussion within the TV show History.cs, the topic of which were the naturally occurring hydrocarbons, specifically the naphthobitumens (crude oil, asphalt, natural gas): it dealt with the earliest reports on crude oil and asphalt, with their use in the world; furthermore, the reasons for interest in the search for natural hydrocarbons in the territory of present-day Slovakia and Moravia (i.e. the reaction to discoveries in Austrio-Hungarian Galicia), Czechoslovakia's interest in oil and natural gas after 1918, and state measures to acquire new deposits of these raw materials, the activity of private drillers during the era of Austria-Hungary and the so-called First Czechoslovak Republic were discussed. Remaining topics included the civilizational significance of natural hydrocarbons, their origin, the gradual increase in their utilization, the development of the technology of oil-well drilling and extraction methods. |
