| Description | The presentation focused on the works of two representatives of Czech humanist travelogue, namely Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice (1564–1621) and Friedrich of Donín (ca. 1574–1634). Although only Donín visited Rome, both travellers captured in word and image many monuments emblematic to the city of Rome and the Roman civilization in general. While Donín's description of his Italian voyages remains in manuscript, the two-part travelogue of Kryštof Harant was printed already during the author's lifetime. The lecture block introduced the audience to both the original and the edited form of both authors' texts. |
