Description The paper focuses on the approach of secondary vocational schools to early school leaving from the perspective of guidance counselors who act as career advisors. Although the Czech Republic has a low rate of early school leaving, it is clear that the number of such students is growing, which may have a negative impact on their future. The absence of a systematic approach leaves the responsibility to secondary schools. The aim of the qualitative research is to illustrate the main areas and complexity of support for students at risk of early failure through interviews with career counselors who work with at-risk students at schools. The research identified three main dimensions of the approach, which focus on working with student information, prevention, and intervention. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
