| Description | This study investigates the link between motivation factors from Expectancy-Value Theory and academic resilience. It explores how different operationalizations of resilience, based on Rudd et al. (2021), affect results. Using PISA 2018 data from over 600,000 15-year-old students across 79 countries (OECD, 2019), preliminary findings suggest that the effect of motivation on academic resilience is generally stable across differing operationalizations. At the country level, final findings differ depending on the operationalization approach used. This study highlights the need for a stronger theoretical and methodological framework. Only then can we better rely on existing research and develop effective interventions to enhance academic resilience in students. |
