| Description | This paper discusses the form of contemporary Czech literature. It is briefly focused on its characteristics and the extra-literary context that influences its form. The initial impulse for the paper was the high publishing activity of the middle generation of women and the resulting higher inter- est of male and female readers in published works. Among the many the- matic streams, attention is drawn to selected novels by Petra Hůlová, Hana Androniková, Markéta Pilátová and Kateřina Tučková, in which is possible to notice identical specifics — exotic setting, thematization of the female world, magic. Through their texts, the above-mentioned authors return to the past in the sense of thinking about myths, archetypes and stereotypes about women. Their inspiration comes from folklore, legends, religion from different parts of the world, but also from the country they come from. In the selected texts we analyse thematic and motivic levels and place these works in a distinctive and typologically diverse literary stream. |
