| Description | In my presentation, I examine the role of the “good death” in shaping the new scientific persona in Fontenelle´s Éloges des académiciens. I hold that the depiction of the deaths of academicians is coherent with the persona of scientists and the virtues Fontenelle attributes to them, reflecting an implicit ethical perspective. |
