Description This study investigates the curing behavior of polysilazane (PSZ) coatings using atmospheric-pressure lowtemperature plasma as a fast-curing method without the addition of chemical catalysts. The effectiveness of plasma curing is compared with conventional curing methods, and the impact of tetra-n-butylammonium fluoride (TBAF) addition on the curing process. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed to evaluate the crosslinking degree of PSZ coatings with and without plasma curing and the use of TBAF. Additionally, coating properties such as water contact angle (WCA), surface free energy (SFE), pull-off adhesion strength, and resistance to soiling were characterized. Results reveal that plasma curing accelerates the crosslinking process, leading to enhanced hydrophobicity and adhesion strength compared to conventional curing methods. The absence of TBAF did not significantly affect the crosslinking process, emphasizing the performance of plasma curing as a rapid and environmentally friendly alternative for curing of PSZ into polysiloxane coatings.
