Description The key question of this paper is to propose answers to how art and artistic research, by transposing scientific methods into the realm of art, can influence and shape the further development of artificial intelligence while, through speculative methods, anticipating future aesthetic processes. The inquiry is grounded in an extensive analysis of current artistic production in AI Art, which is marked not only by bidirectional transpositional procedures from various scientific fields into art, but above all by an interest in working with the concept of the artificial system’s consciousness as a partner. The current state of knowledge in sciences does not exclude the feasibility of manifesting signs of consciousness in AI systems. Such a prediction essentially frames a qualitative estimate of possible aesthetic processes in collaboration with hypothetically possible manifestations of consciousness in AI systems. The ambition of these reflections is to open a discourse on understanding such positions of artistic research strategies within broad frameworks of transdisciplinary research approaches.
