| Description | The central part of the publication focuses on a group of adult Greek migrants who came to the territory of then-Czechoslovakia after the end of the Greek Civil War in 1949–1950. It traces their social composition, the process of their integration into Czechoslovak society, and their efforts to return to their homeland. The central theme of the book is the fate of the victims of the fabricated trials of 1953. In several chapters, the authors analyse the domestic and international context of these trials and describe their course in detail – from surveillance and arrests through interrogations and court proceedings to convictions, the serving of sentences, subsequent expulsions, and later rehabilitation efforts. An integral part of the publication is a critical edition of fifty archival documents from various Czech archives, supplemented by period photographs, newspaper articles, and other source materials. |
