| Description | The literary reflection of the life of Jan Sarkander (1576–1620) significantly contributed to the formation of his hagiographic image and appeared in two waves triggered by the confessional and political conflicts of the Baroque period. The development of Sarkander’s cult can be traced in the context of the contemporary, more fully developed cult of Jan Nepomuk, who was perceived as his role model. The aim of the article is to examine these parallels, the thematic motifs, and their role in shaping the cult of the Moravian saint. |
