| Description | The main focus is on the institution of sealed charters, which became prevalent in the Czech lands in the mid-12th century and was accompanied by an increase in the number of canonical manuscripts. In the 13th century, the first official books appeared alongside charters as products of more complexly structured chanceries. Examples of these phenomena are chosen with regard to the development of the central, royal chancery, which played a leading role in promoting progressive trends in the field of official sources. |
