Description This paper examines syncretism in Czech quantitative expressions across pseudo-partitive, low-counting, and high-counting contexts. Adopting a nanosyntactic containment approach, it argues that nominal morphology reflects structural depth rather than properties of numerals themselves. The analysis shows that pseudo-partitives fail to inflect for case because their structure does not project beyond the mass layer, while counting constructions involve increasing functional complexity. Czech data thus provide evidence for a universal containment hierarchy underlying quantity expressions.
