| Description | In 1960, together with the then-director of the Brno House of Arts, Igor Zhoř—newly appointed as an assistant lecturer at the Brno Department of Art Education—founded the association Young Friends of Fine Art. A year later, he curated the exhibition The School of Seeing / The Eloquence of Drawing for the House of Arts. These were fundamental, pioneering steps that anticipated the development of gallery pedagogy in the Czech context. But above all, Zhoř’s concepts of that time introduce educational approaches to perceiving and presenting visual art that today are defined as the “educational turn” and “innovative contemporaneity.” Can we still speak of “contemporaneity” when such methods were being used in Brno more than sixty years ago? And do current efforts offer anything beyond Zhoř’s earlier activities |
