Description This paper focuses on the possibilities of analytical analysis of scenography through the ideas of new materialism. I will conceptualize the visual form of selected productions in relation to the "agency of matter," and thus in connection with the feminist tradition of this philosophical direction. Using selected examples of more or less contemporary productions, I will attempt to demonstrate how the agency of scenographic matter and various more-than-human entities involved in the construction of meaning (both dramatic and empirical) can be incorporated into their critical analysis, and evaluate what research questions arise from this perspective. Following Donna Haraway's situated epistemology and place politics, I start from the thesis that objects-spaces-materials are not merely passive recipients of pre-given meanings, but are themselves actively involved in the processes in which they acquire meaning. I will therefore present the creative process of scenography as an event taking place during a theatrical performance, during which matter becomes meaningful. At the end of my contribution, I will also reflect on whether it is possible to relate posthumanist considerations to the historical concept of so-called action scenography, in which actors and actresses became the bearers of stage action precisely and only in interaction with the scenic matter.
