| Description | The evenings of the dark hours (tenebrae) are already a traditional part of the Easter Festival of Sacred Music. Since 2016, the model of three concerts on the eve of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday has become established, usually at the Jesuits. In the past, the festival has featured Rybov, Gesualdo and Zelenka's responsoria, Orthodox chants of Holy Week, Míč's Sung Meditations, organ improvisations, etc. Last year, the unique Nova cantio project was presented with world premieres by composers Lukáš Hurník, Zdeněk Klaudy, Jaroslav Pelikán, Tomáš Krejčí, Jiří M. Procházka and Ondřej Múčka (for more details, see OM 3–5/2024, editor's note). This year's edition raised the bar even higher when it offered festival visitors a choral performance by Ensemble Vesrus in combination with theatrical and visual elements (directed by Kateřina Křivánková, light design, projection by Anna Laborová, scenography, costumes by Tereza Jančová) in the unique setting of Brno's reservoirs on Žlutý kopec. |
