| Description | This chapter discusses the cultural activities of Adolf Kroupa, director of the House of Arts in Brno in the 1950s and 1960s. The focus is on his contacts with French poets and publishers, on the connection between Adolf Kroupa’s translation work and his exhibition activities, and on his translations in books and periodicals, first during the period of change and liberalization in Czechoslovak culture, and subsequently during the early years of normalization. The chapter draws on numerous archival materials that have not been widely considered to date. |
