| Description | The documentary Back into the Light focuses on contemporary approaches in archaeological research that move beyond traditional field excavation and emphasize the importance of laboratory analysis of archaeological finds. It demonstrates how modern archaeology reconstructs information embedded in artefacts through interdisciplinary methods that enable the identification of aspects of material culture that are not visible at a macroscopic level. The film presents key analytical approaches such as traceology, 3D documentation, microscopic analysis, and materials research, which allow the study of functional traces, manufacturing processes, and post-depositional changes. These methods provide detailed insight into the production, use, and contextual roles of artefacts within the everyday practices of past societies. Emphasis is placed on reconstructing human behaviour through material traces.
