Citation
Description The chapter presents some key features of the Nanosyntax framework (Starke, 2002) and compares them to the theory of Distributed Morphology (Halle and Marantz, 1993, 1994). I explain why and how Nanosyntax completes the transition from Lexicalist to non-Lexicalist theories. I present the basic principles of insertion in Nanosyntax (Overspecification, Cyclic Spellout, Spellout-driven Movement) and compare the frameworks in three short case studies, focusing on the treatment of case, roots and inflection classes.
