Description The paper considers criticisms and controversies that occurred in the 1920s and 1930s between young Jan Patočka and Czech neotomists. The author elucidates three specific areas of problems which constituted, from 1932 till 1939, the focus of polemics between Patočka and the chief editor of Philosophical Revue (Filosofická revue) Metoděj Habáň, the guardian of the tomist orthodoxy among Dominicans in Olomouc: 1. A conflict between Patočka and Habáň on account of the Czech tomists production evaluation, concerning above all a new Czech translation of Thomas Aquinass Theological Summa; 2. Different interpretation of some theological and philosophical questions by Patočka and Habáň, especially the polemics about the relation between Thomas and Aristotle, specifically about different meanings of their evidence of the Gods existence; 3. Patočkas and Habáňs varying judgments on Masaryks philosophy of religion; in this context the author mentions Habáňs critique of Masaryk, published shortly after Masaryks death in 1937, and Patočkas rejection of Habáňs treatment.
