Description The word až connects the temporal or resultative clauses. In both of them it contains the general semantic feature of the border (terminativeness), the same as in the function of a modifier of the sentence phrase. It seems the expression až is not a conjunction (in the sense of a part of speech), but a functional word and as a modifier of the clause it only plays a role of a conjunction. These functional and semantic characteristics were decisive for its development in the Czech language.
