| Description | The study deals with ADELHEID (1969 ), František Vláčil’s film adaptation based on a homonymous novel by Vladimír Körner. It starts by discussing the creative methods used in the film which show especially Vláčil’s exceptional film poetics. The adaptation is then examined as a distinctive process of intermedial transposition. The outcome of such a creative process is a new audiovisual work of art constructing a fictional world that represents human freedom, relationship between a human and external inauspicious events and issues of misunderstanding. Vláčil’s ADELHEID is a universal testimony about human existence in a disrupted world. |
