Description This paper explores a relatively new field of neurotheology, which emerged quite recently and is still without any unified methodology. It briefly sketches history of neurotheology, exploratory methods and results produced by this discipline. Then the paper addresses basic problem of neurotheology – an attempt to participate in the scientific discourse. However, also unbiased works exist, in the field of neuropsychology of religions. Neuropsychology of religions changes the problematic premises of neurotheological research and offers a scientific alternative to the biased neurotheological researches. Unfortunately, even neuropsychology of religions still has a lot of issues to solve. Those being mainly exploratory methods, a definition of religion (i.e. a subject of research), and not unified interpretations of results.
