Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in French Language and Literature

No language is foreign if the guide is a good teacher.

What will you learn?

The aim of the study of Upper Secondary School Teacher Training in French Language and Literature is to prepare a qualified and competent teacher of French language and literature, who is comprehensively educated for teaching at secondary schools and language schools or companies where French is taught as a foreign language. The input language competence is at the C1 level according to the CEFR; the output language competence is at the C2 level. Graduates obtain knowledge, skills and competences in theoretical-philological courses as well as in courses of pedagogy and applied linguistics. They have excellent language competence and wide literary and cultural background in their field, being fully proficient in the four main skills of language learning.

During the studies, a great deal of attention is paid to teaching French for business purposes (Français langue professionnelle) and French for specific purposes (Français à objectifs spécifiques). During the studies, the student has the opportunity to practice in some of the companies in Brno, where the French language serves for corporate and business communication.

Practical training

Students receive four weeks of continuous practical training each semester. This practical internship includes, on the one hand, hours of observation and reflection on the experiences acquired during the lessons and on the other, the hours they teach in class with a tutor. Reflection on feedback is an integral part of Teacher Training Seminars.
