At its meeting on 25 April 2022, the Academic Senate of FF MU approved the new composition of the FF MU Scientific Board.

The senators were also presented with the Faculty's budget for 2022 in the so-called macro tables (for the time being without division into faculty departments) and approved its form.

Applications for the extension of accreditation of the Czech study programs Norwegian Language, Literature and Culture (BA), Nordic Studies (MA), and Teaching German Language and Literature for Secondary Schools (MA) were also approved.

Vice-Dean Jastrzembská presented the conditions of the extraordinary admission procedure for applicants from Ukraine. They will apply to the Faculty as such and indicate their subject preferences in the questionnaire. Depending on the further documents provided and the capacity of the individual study programs, they will be subsequently admitted with the approval of the guarantors. An intensive Czech language course will be prepared for them before they start the autumn semester.

The Senate subsequently approved, with some reservations, the intention to set up a Senate Committee on Science, which would provide a space for interdisciplinary discussion and translate the suggestions of the faculty leadership, along the lines of the Economics Committee. The commission will be composed of:

  • Prof. Ivan Foletti, MA, Docteur dès Lettres
  • Mgr. et Mgr. Eva Kundtová Klocová, Ph.D.
  • Prof. Mgr. Jiří Macháček, Ph.D.
  • doc. Mgr. Petra Mutlová, M.A., Ph.D.
  • prof. Mgr. Klára Šeďová, Ph.D.
  • doc. PhDr. David Zbíral, Ph.D.

At the request of the student chamber, a representative from among doctoral students will be added.

The next item on the agenda was the new Faculty Disciplinary Regulations, which complement the recently approved University-wide Disciplinary Regulations.

The Senate was then briefed on the results of the Administrative Committee's deliberations regarding the forthcoming application for familiarization with the regulations. The plan is to create annotations for each regulation, which would always briefly summarize its content and meaning. In addition, the familiarization process will be loosened. The plan will be presented in more detail at the next meeting.

Finally, the discussion turned to the recent unexpected reduction in funding that faculty were to receive from the university-wide budget for internationalization. The Senate passed the following resolution on this item:

The AS FF MU protests against the drastic and unexpectedly high reduction of funds to support internationalization. This measure significantly interferes with ongoing and contractually agreed internationalization activities. At the same time, this measure violates RMU's original intention to plan internationalization activities three years in advance. The AS FF MU instructs its representative in the University-wide Senate to advocate this concern at the AS MU meeting.

The detailed course of the meeting of the Senate is recorded in the minutes.

The next standard meeting of the Senate will be held on 23 May 2022.
