Bike to work. The faculty will again participate in a nationwide challenge in May

Last year, the Faculty of Arts MU took part in the challenge for the first time and had significant participation and results. We want to continue this tradition this year! We therefore invite all participants from last year to join us again, and we warmly welcome newcomers who want to try commuting sustainably, actively, and in good spirits.

About

The May Bike to Work Challenge is a nationwide event organised by the AutoMat association. Throughout May (May 1–31), participants commute to work under their own power—by bike, on foot, running, on a scooter, on skates, or in combination with public transport.

Main rules

  • You need to form a team of 2 to 5 people.
  • Journeys are recorded in the system (manually or via an app).
  • It's not about kilometres, but about regularity – to be eligible for the prize draw, you must have at least 66.6% of your journeys to and from work made sustainably.

Registration begins in February 2026 here.

Why participate

  • You will improve your physical fitness and mental well-being.
  • You will contribute to a pleasant team atmosphere at the Faculty of Arts, MU.
  • You will contribute to reducing emissions and help improve urban infrastructure – anonymised data from the challenge is actually used.
  • Reimbursement of the participation fee.

Do you have any questions? Would you like to set up a faculty team? Or do you need help with registration? Contact the faculty coordinator, Jiří Žgánič Šprdlík (sprdlik@phil.muni.cz) from the Central Library.
