| Popis | The text focusses on the process of establishing a new branch of scholarly research in Czechoslovakia from 1945 to 1989: the academic study of religions. There is a special focus on the Czechoslovak academic study of Buddhism (Buddhology) in fieldwork in Mongolia. Lumír Jisl’s field research in Gandan, Ulaanbaatar, in the summer of 1958 shows the advantages as well as the disadvantages of such an approach. This contribution is based on both published and unpublished scholarly material from Jisl’s family archive as well as other Czech archives. |
