Citace
Popis The article aims to compare two influential paradigms in contemporary Western translatology, the skopos theory and the polysystem theory, with the ideas expressed by the Czechoslovak Translation Studies scholar Jiří Levý. At the bottom of the notions of function and norm, common to these three conceptions of translation, are examined the common points and the differences between these theoretical approaches. The notional relationship of the paradigms examined is related to common epistemological sources, including structuralist and functional linguistics and aesthetics of the Prague Linguistic Circle (V. Mathesius, J. Mukařovský, F. Vodička), or the Russian formalism. We examine the presence of notions of function and norms in Jiří Levý and in the theoreticians of skopos and those of the polysystem. From the methodological point of view, the article is part of a meta-theory of translation and at the same time can be considered as a contribution to the historiography of theories of translation and therefore as part of the history of translation.
