Popis Modernism should not be understood merely as a set of artworks or artistic methods, but rather as a uniting idea of a “new vision,” one that incorporates processes of trans- formation, transition, adaptation. the modernist movement can, at the same time, be described as adapting culture for the change in social and technological conditions. this case study concerns both literary and visual artists who adapted everyday reality by using new media to lift it up into the aesthetic sphere. the poets and photographers discussed in my paper adapted urban periphery (factories, water and gas reservoirs etc.) by making it the center of the aesthetic expression of modernist art.
